Promote It

  • Take steps to effectively promote the tobacco-cessation treatment benefits or services you provide.
Step 1: Conduct research to assess current tobacco use, find out what benefits you offer and what your employees think. The sample survey and focus group guide are the tools that can be used to do an assessment.

Step 2: Prepare key messages and provide information on required resources to employees who want to quit smoking.

Step 3: Use any of the communication tools to reach out employees;

  • Poster in the workplace
  • Information on the intranet
  • Company newsletter
  • Postcards, fliers, brochures, payroll stuffers
  • Company meeting and presentation
  • Wellness events, health fair
  • Support from the health plan, union associations
  • Closed-circuit television
  • New employee packet/orientation
  • Evaluate effectiveness of you promotion efforts just as you would other company investments. Adjust your program to be as effective as possible.
